About Wellstar's Congregational Health Network

The Congregational Health Network (CHN) was created in 2000 by a nurse and a chaplain, hoping to create a partnership with Wellstar and the communities it serves. Wellstar recognizes that health is a dynamic process that includes physical, psychological, social, and spiritual dimensions. Congregations are viewed as communities of health and healing. Through the CHN, Wellstar provides support to existing health and wellness teams in communities of faith or can help create one. Current members of the CHN represent diverse communities and faiths across the state of Georgia. Since inception, the CHN has become central to deploying health programs, such as our COVID-19 outreach initiatives, to communities experiencing an unfair share of the burden of disease.

About Soul Support

Behavioral health and wellness continue to lead as community health priorities throughout Georgia, especially within the communities Wellstar serves.  Access to behavioral health care is challenged by a lack of mental health providers. To address the need for local behavioral health care, Wellstar Community Health and Center for Health Equity created Soul Support, an initiative that includes evidence-based programs to provide behavioral health education and support. By equipping faith leaders with education, training, and resources, Soul Support builds community capacity for reducing stigma surrounding behavioral health in a trusted environment.
